Webcomic #6: Tautological proverbs

  1. ... technically, only the last two are tautologies. But I guess all of them are either tautologies or they are not.

  2. Really, 1, 2, and 4 are the tautologies, 3 is not because the amount of money is still dependent on the amount of times you have heard that. The tautology would be "If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, I'd have a 1:1 ratio of nickels and times I had heard that." And 5 complicates itself by saying "there are two kinds of people in the world". "Either it is or it isn't" is certainly a tautology, but adding the assertion that there are only two kinds of people involves a condition that is not true by definition.
